Il basso elettrico è uno strumento musicale che è stato inventato nel 1951 da Leo Fender. Il primo modello di basso elettrico prodotto da Fender fu il Precision Bass. Il basso elettrico è una versione amplificata del contrabbasso, che è stato inventato nel XVI secolo. Il basso elettrico è diventato uno strumento popolare negli anni '50 e '60, grazie alla sua versatilità e al suo suono ricco. Oggi, il basso elettrico è uno strumento essenziale in qualsiasi gruppo musicale, sia rock che jazz.
