Il basso elettrico è uno strumento musicale che è stato inventato nel 1951 da Leo Fender. Il primo modello di basso elettrico prodotto da Fender fu il Precision Bass. Il basso elettrico è una versione amplificata del contrabbasso, che è stato inventato nel XVI secolo.
